About Joy Bonhurst


Joy Bonhurst is a 2017 LPGA Top 50 Best Teachers, worldwide and the 2017 LPGA Teaching & Club Professional (T&CP) Northeast Section Teacher of the Year. This is Joy's fourth selection as LPGA T&CP Northeast Section Teacher of the Year. Joy is a teaching professional at Blue Mash Golf Course. Introduced to golf by her mom over 34 years ago, Joy was always resourceful - even trained her dog, Pepper, (an adorable golden retriever) to shag her golf balls! It was while spending time learning to hit golf balls at her schoolyard with her Mother and Pepper that Joy fell in love with the game of golf!


Professional Qualifications

Joy Bonhurst is a LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Class A Member, and a Middle Atlantic PGA Class A Member. As the fourth women golfer to be inducted into the Methodist College Athletic Hall of Fame, Joy was one of the pioneers in Methodist golf where she and her team won Methodist's first four national championships from 1986 -1989. Joy has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management. Joy holds numerous certifications golf fitness, training, and club fitting.

Professional Honors & Awards

Joy Bonhurst's professional honors and awards include: LPGA Top 50 Best Teachers, worldwide, four time LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Northeast Section Teacher of the Year, Golf Digest "50 Best Women Teachers in America", numerous Golf Digest "Best Teachers In Your State (Maryland) as Ranked by their Peers", Golf For Women "Top 50 Golf Instructors", LPGA Northeast Section Education Coordinator, and participated in PGA President's Council. Joy is the Tournament Director for the Pompano Beach Club Ladies Pro-Am Golf Classic and has published golf tips in several publications, has filmed infomercials for the Middle Atlantic PGA and Comcast.

Teaching Achievements

Joy Bonhurst has worked extensively with individuals of all playing levels - from beginners to accomplished players to include: Maryland State Golf Association Women's Team, District of Columbia Golf Association Women's Team, Rising Pros Junior Golf, and has provided customized instruction seniors golf and golfers with disabilities as well as 2 and 3 day golf schools at the PGA Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Student's accomplishments include: qualifiers for PGA National Championship, numerous Club Championships, Senior Club Championships, Maryland State Women's Open low amateur champion, and Virginia State Golf Association Women's Amateur Open Champion.
